Round up of 2014 - more reviews and more news!
2014 has been such a great year for the trio with the album release/tour and performances in jazz festivals in the UK and abroad. Some highlights have been the La Laguna Jazz Festival in Tenerife (see pic above plus clips and an interview in Spanish can be seen on the reviews/interviews page), the Manchester Jazz Festival where we got to revisit Mr Thomas' Chop House' once again and last but not least the Purcell rooms performance supporting Henri Texier at the EFG London Jazz Festival where I played the piece I had been commissioned to write especially for the event. The piece was based on a folk song about London and the river and there were some great reviews which can be found on the reviews/interviews page (there's also an interview about the project on there too).
The album reviews have been astounding, and 'In the Chop House' made it into the All About Jazz top 10 albums of 2014!
2015 should be just as exciting with a new album by the Ivo Neame Quintet (in which I play tenor and flute) being released and a coinciding tour later in the year. Another project 'Solstice' which is a sextet featuring Brigitte Beraha on vocals, John Turville on piano and myself on flute and saxes has recently been recorded. There'll be more news on that soon! The trio should be back in the studio at some point in 2015 too to record a second album with all the new material we've accumulated during 2014!
Happy New Year - let's hope it's even better than 2014 was!
